Who Am I? |
I've known I wanted to be a teacher since I was very young. Playing "school" was my favorite thing to do growing up! I grew up in the north suburbs of Chicago. After graduating from the University of Illinois, I decided to stay in the area. I subbed for Champaign schools for a year before getting my first full time teaching position for Rantoul City Schools. During my 10 years in Rantoul, I taught first grade for 9 years and was a K-2 Reading Specialist for a year. I also completed my Master's Degree in Literacy and Language Education at U of I, met and married my husband, Mr. Willis, and had 2 beautiful daughters, Taylor and Lucy. We moved from Champaign to Gibson City in the fall of 2014.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, photography, and fixing up our new house. In our classroom, I work very hard to establish and maintain a positive atmosphere where your child feels safe and is not afraid of failure. It is my goal that every child feels a measure of success every single day. I strongly believe that all students, no matter what their current ability, have great potential and can grow. |
